Weymouth Conservation Commission Continues Route 18 Sewer Upgrade Hearing to June

WEYMOUTH — May 19, 2026 — Weymouth Conservation Commission continues public hearing on a 500-foot Route 18 sewer replacement with major wetland impacts. The commission voted unanimously at its May 19 meeting to push the hearing for a Public Works Department sewer upgrade — from 8-inch to 15-inch pipe in a 40-foot-wide wetland easement near Route 18 and the Mill River — to its June 30 meeting, with conservation agent Andrew citing a need for more time to draft order of conditions language. Consultant Ryan Allgrove of Apex said the project, intended to handle future discharge from the Union Point redevelopment, would temporarily impact roughly 9,000 square feet of bordering vegetated wetland and requires permits from the Army Corps of Engineers, MassDOT, and the MBTA. Soil borings to assess organic depth are scheduled for June 18. The commission also unanimously issued certificates or negative determinations for three residential applicants and sent out two notices of violation — one for shoreline vegetation removal at Lakehurst Avenue and one for tree cutting and gravel placement within a wetland buffer at zero Washington Street.
