Weymouth Zoning Board Unanimously Approves Citizens Bank Drive-Through Special Permit
WEYMOUTH — June 10, 2026 — Weymouth zoning board approves Citizens Bank drive-through at long-vacant Pleasant Street bank. The Board of Zoning Appeals voted unanimously Wednesday to grant a special permit under zoning bylaw section 120-25C for a two-lane remote ATM drive-through at 32 Pleasant Street, a building that previously housed Hingham Institution for Savings and Bank of America. Architect Jeremy Wise of Bisbono and Associates and civil engineer Scott Rogers of JK Home and Engineering presented a full site redesign featuring reconfigured parking, new landscaping, and a right-in/right-out-only Main Street curb cut pending a MassDOT permit. The board attached conditions requiring the applicant to resolve ownership of the perimeter fencing, replace it with a six-foot fence on three sides, remove the first-story rooftop ladder, and identify in writing who will maintain the new plantings — property owner or Citizens Bank — before a final written decision is issued. A separate variance application from Keith Collings at 45 Intervale Road for a front-porch reconstruction was continued to July 8 after board members said they lacked sufficient hardship documentation to justify expanding the enclosed porch from five feet to 11 feet in depth.
